Welcome Back Letter 24-25 School Year

Dear Families and Students,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  I am so excited to get this school year started.  My goal is for our families and the school to work together to make this a great year for everyone.  My door is open!  Please feel free to call or email me at any time if you have any questions or concerns.

Please read the following information carefully.

Great News!! There will be NO textbook or technology fees for ALL K-12 students for the 2024-2025 school year.

Back to School/Meet the Teacher Night-Aug. 5th from 5:00-7:00. I encourage you to bring your child in to meet his/her teacher on this night.  You may bring all school supplies in at that time as well, so his/her bookback isn’t so heavy on that first day of school. Feel free to take pictures of your child with the teacher if you would like.  Parents will not be able to walk children to class on the first day of school for safety reasons (see next section). We have a photo backdrop that goes with our school theme, IMAGINE…,  if you would like to take a picture of your child that evening. It is next to the cafeteria doors, by the office.

Please note our new school hours for the 24-25 school year. School starts promptly at 8:15.  End of the day dismissal is now 3:10. Car rider dismissal will begin at 3:00 and students will dismiss to the buses at 3:10.

First Day of School:  For the safety of all students, staff, and parents, we will not be allowing any parents, visitors or guests into the building to walk their child to the classroom.  We know what a “big day” this is for our new parents and students.  Please understand, we must do what we feel is best for the health and safety of everyone.  We will have an “All Hands on Deck” approach. All staff will be assigned an “area” to help with getting students off of the buses and out of the cars, and to get them to their classroom.

When Your Plans Change: If plans change for your child, such as your child will need to ride the bus home or your child will be a car rider, PLEASE call the office with the change prior to 2:00.  We need to have this information as early as possible so notes can be written and we can inform your child and the teacher.

New Cell Phone and Wireless Device Policy:  Please be sure to read the new policy per Indiana Code, regarding cell phones and/or any wireless device.  It is in the take home packet.

Truancy Prevention Procedures:  Please see the Truancy Prevention Procedures provided in the take home packet.

Other Important Information:  We are teaching our students to be kind and respectful.  It is very important that they learn how to understand differences.  We do not always have to agree, but we do have to be kind to one another.  I expect this from our staff and ALL adults who enter our building.  Inappropriate language or behavior will not be tolerated.

I hope this letter has answered most of your questions and maybe even reduced the anxiety level for you and your child(ren).   For those of you who have additional questions, you may email me at jbrack@fccsc.k12.in.us, or our secretary, aowens@fccsc.k12.in.us. You can also call the office at 765-647-3503.  Please understand that it’s a very busy time as we prepare for the start of school.  We will do our best to reply to emails within 24-48 hours.

The entire Brookville Elementary Staff is excited for the start of the new year and want to make things go as smoothly as possible, as we begin the 2024-2025 school year!!
